The clutch pedal was going all the way up, but it still worked fine, just needed to push it down. it seems to be quite a common fault with the 147 and GT, bleeding mine helped for the 2-3 days it took me to get a replacement. But, first, I have to thank you for pointing out that some dealers were letting the car off the lot at 50 psi! I checked and, yes, that happened to me.
Well this is my first problem in 1 1/2 years of ownership. The car is an Alfa 147 2.0 . BMC CDA, Supersprint 4-2-1 Manifold, Remus Center Pipe, Carbon Fiber Rear Silencer, UNICHIP Piggyback ECU, C&B Cams, H&R -40mm Springs, Wiechers front + rear Strut Bars, 8x18 O.Z. Antares with 225/40 ZR 18 Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tires. Well Alfa The147 does not start on the first try when cold, and sometimes even when warm. I have to swing, stop, drop, repeat, then she springs into action. Been trolling the forums trying to find answers, but does not seem to be common. I found one where the problem was the same, and the theory was that it was water in the tank. Tosay the least, Alfa Romeo breaks down very often. The industrial average problem frequency is 140 problems per 100 vehicles, and the problem frequency of Alpha Romeo is around 200 problems per 100 vehicles. That said I've not heard any horror stories above the normal: cambelts snapping etc etc. Also own a TS for the last 12 years and it hasn't let me down once, mechanically.
